Amsterdam, the dutch capital, begon as a 13th-century fishing village on a river bed to its current role as a major hub for not only tourists but also for the business and his culture. Also becoming the 3rd largest city of the world after London and Paris during the 17th century. its famous of its canals, but also famous people as Anne Frank, Rembrandt van Rijn and Johan Cruyff. Anne Frank is one of Amsterdam’s best-known historical figures. While hiding from the Nazis for more than two years in a house on the Prinsengracht, Anne Frank lives on through her diary and the huge numbers of visitors who wants to learn more about her short but spiriting life. During the success of the Golden Age the architectural development was remarkable. It is rich of historical architecture. This was during the build of the canalside estates in the 17th and 18th centuries. Most of the architecture is still standing today as the narrow face old houses on side the canals.
Rotterdam also known as the “Manhattan on the Maas” because of it has largest ports in Europe. Rotterdam is best known for its beautiful architecture and the beautiful skyline and skyscrapers. The city was largely destroyed in World War II, but is now a mix of old and new buildings with the most modern architecture in the Netherlands. The highest futuristic skyscrapers in the Netherlands can be found here in the port city, but also beautiful 20th century industrial architecture such as the impressive Van Nelle Fabriek.
